A time of need for A Place of Peace Please take the time to read on…
First of all - Please know that no matter what you hear, read, or think - we are not a
building, we are not closed - 896 is in jeopardy but we are a
community within the community for the community - a home for the soul
and a bridge to Oneness.
We are only temporarily without walls. Stay tuned for our house warming!!!!!!!
Our Intention and Our Vision
Our
vision and mission for A Place of Peace is to provide a Sanctuary of
Peace in the Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties – to be available and
accessible to those in need of a Place to go for: assistance,
connection, education, spiritual development, outreach –
community. We provide a place for people to come together for
inspiration, creation and service – to raise consciousness toward
balance and healing. Balanced and harmonious individuals create stable families and stable
families become viable members in their community and society as a
whole. It does take a village to change the world! At A Place of
Peace we begin one by one – one service at a time, one meditation, one
lecture, one class….
We
are a community within the community for the community – a “Place” to
journey: emotionally, spiritually and personally - a home for the soul.
Our vision is to support and inspire Peace, Love, Harmony and Balance.
Our Need No
one has ever been turned away for lack of ability to pay for services
or events here. And that is how it should be. My husband, Doug,
and I have funded this vision for two years now with absolutely no
regrets or hesitation. And please understand that if we had more to
give we would do so - believing so completely in this vision. I
only tell you this to tell you that we are not people of means – we
just had some retirement money and a small inheritance that is now gone. Doug and I have simply run out of the funds needed to continue and our beautiful “Place of Peace” will be lost to us soon.

Monday's Update - July 19th For
now, our Sanctuary is closed and it may take a little time to relocate
- but we will! We have not given up on our beautiful historical
Victorian church site - you never know. We are working together toward
recreating our home, fund raising, and looking into how we will stay
together, meet in our circle, until that time. We have folks
researching all kinds of avenues for assistance until we get our feet
back on the ground. Stay faithful to your inward journey and know
of the Peace you hold inside. All things work together for the good for
those who Love! I
know we have loved the beautiful Historic Victorian Building on the
corner of Main and Kalorama - our Sanctuary of Love and Peace. So
many wonderful events, such precious light, quiet surrender, gentle
folks, and awesome experiences have filled our Sanctuary over these
past couple of years here. What a sweet moment in time. Shannon,
Reina and I will continue our work here with our clients but be as of
now will be leaving by August 15th. So, please take care of
one another, send us light in our search, and stay tuned for notice of
when and where we will all meet again!
Friday
we locked our doors and took down our beautiful sanctuary at 896 E.
Main and I was filled with such sadness. Beyond our community
losing its home, we had planned for months to welcome the Maitreya
(Loving Kindness) Tour and when that could no longer be I was a bit
heart broken. As I left Friday, I felt dislocated from our
community and exhausted from the happenings of the week just ended.
But,
I was drawn to Santa Barbara, to the relocated Maitreya Tour, and it
changed my world! Today I am energized, faith filled, hope filled
and at Peace moving forward in Love.
As
I entered, Center of the Heart, in Santa Barbara Friday night, I saw
what could have been, what I felt was meant to be in our Sanctuary -
and honestly the sadness was overwhelming. However, within minutes I
was blessed with such peace. The loving and kind energy in that
space was awe-inspiring. And our folks were there waiting to serve as
they had committed. How sweet! I was offered the position
of welcoming people as they would come forward to release all blocks to
love. One by one I then found myself welcoming our folks, looking
into the eyes of those I hold so deeply in my heart and sending
them on their path to Peace within. With them I felt the presence
of all who had ever walked through our doors as well. The
blessings in that room were tremendous - the love and kindness. I
was blessed with such peace in being given this honor. Throughout
the night I became more and more aware of our safety, our bond, and our
future - our community of A Place of Peace. I was released from
the building I felt so inspired, and given vision to see us as a
nomadic people of love finding our way - where ever that may be.
A Place of Peace is within us! I saw that evidenced over the
weekend, 30 miles away. The Love, Respect and Kindness in
what was to be here in our community was so strong - it reached us
regardless of the miles. I am truly grateful for all that was
this weekend, especially appreciative of the Maitreya Project
Tour and Rev. Maryum Morse, Center of the Heart, who so quickly joined
us in our adage "Together all things are possible!"
I love you all. Thank you for the gift of your presence in my life! For now it's time for us to live what we have said all along A Place of Peace is within you!

I
believe A Place of Peace is meant to be and I pray we will find our
way, even in this economy. Folks come to A Place of Peace to grow and
evolve. There are people who come to us broken to find a Love and
Peace within our “Place” that touches their hearts and heals them.
There are folks without jobs who come to find friendship and support in
their dark times. There are people who have left their spiritual
traditions and have wandered without a spiritual home who have found us
as an oasis. They are young and old...with and without. The
folks here have been from all walks of life and we have been very
blessed in our journey alongside them - meeting one person at a time,
one couple at a time, one family at a time.
If
you are able to support us on our journey –it is with great joy and
gratitude we accept your contribution. If you are not – blessings –
please send us your good wishes.
If
we close our doors tomorrow, I know we have been of consequence and I
am grateful forever for this time and “Place.” Thank you for coming
into my life! We
believe it’s not too late to save this beautiuful historic site
to be our landmark of Love and Peace in our community - with your help!
So
many contributions have already come to us...thank you so very
much! We still need so much more. Everything, large or small,
helps us create anew! Bless you for your support. Our Pay Pal link is below - at the very bottom, our phone number and address are listed below, and your donation is tax deductable. Our Beginnings
May I introduce myself ~ I am Teri Kierbel, Founder, resident Counselor
and Interfaith Minister. The vision for A Place of Peace was born in my
heart and mind years ago. I have been counseling and ministering for
over 20 years in preparation for this time. My husband, Doug
Kierbel, joins me in this vision. We formed a Board of Directors,
invited fellow practitioners to join us,
and we acquired a beautiful old Victorian Rose church building on Main
Street for our home.
We
are truly excited to be a part of the Ventura community. Please browse
our site and contact us if you have any thoughts, questions or
information. We welcome you, anytime, to come grow with us! Thank you
for taking the time to meet us. A Place of
Peace is a Community within the Community for the Community on
Main Street, in downtown Ventura. We always have something going on -

A Place of Peace is a
Community of love and peace dedicated to becoming a visible, viable, and

minds that we might extend outward, through and beyond; individuals, families,

Reflective Cinema/Screening Hollywood Producer Tom Shadyac
“I am”
The
story of a successful Hollywood director, Tom Shadyac, who experienced
a life threatening head injury, and his ensuing journey to try and
answer two very basic questions “What’s wrong with our world?” and
“What can we do about it?” Tom visits some of today’s great minds,
including authors, poets, teachers, religious leaders, and scientists
searching for the fundamental endemic problem that causes all of the
other problems, while simultaneously reflecting on his own life choices
of excess, greed and eventual healing. The film also explores the
magic, and mystery of the human heart, and our true nature as beings.
Discussion immediately following screening, lead by Hollywood Producer and Director, Tom Shadyac.

| Letters and Emails from Friends | | Dear
friends and family: As I sit watching the morning news, I
am saddened by all the hurt and loss experienced world-wide. There are
struggles all around us, and I know each of you have faced new
struggles during these difficult times. It is these struggles
that make it even more important to find a support mechanism that
provides the means to stay positive and to not fall victim to these
hard times. A support mechanism that fosters goodwill and
kindness.
I
was fortunate to find such a support mechanism. As many of
you know, this past year has been one of great mourning for me – I
am an attorney who lost my job I am losing my home; I lost any means by
which to financially support my family; many close relationships of
mine have been strained; and I have often felt like giving up.
It was a day where I had given up having the ability
to even get myself out of bed when my mom decided we needed some
spiritual guidance. She made me get out of bed and go with her to
A Place of Peace here in Ventura. I was definitely skeptical, but
went
with my mom that morning. My mom and I sat there that morning,
and I cried through the entire service. I cried because the
songs, Reverend Teri Kierbel’s message, the guided meditation, and the
kind words and gestures of each of the people there resonated with
me. I realized that I did not need to be alone. I am part
of this community within the community for the community.
Teri
Kierbel and A Place of Peace helped me realize so much about myself and
the lessons of life. In addition to the meditation and spiritual
services, I have benefited greatly from the counseling services Teri
offers. And while I lack the money to pay for services, Teri has
continued to work with me through my roadblocks to leading a healthy
and prosperous life.
My story is not unique. Teri Kierbel and A Place of Peace does not turn anyone away for a lack of ability to pay for services, including workshops and lectures.
Unfortunately,
A Place of Peace is not immune to the current economy.
Given that many of the people that come through A Place of Peace’s
doors are out of work and struggling to stay afloat, A Place of Peace
is unable to sustain itself and is losing its physical location.
As a result, most of the services A Place of Peace offers to me and
anyone within this community are cancelled until
resolution.
If
you are able to make a tax-deductible donation to help save this
beautiful place, please do so. If not, please send your warm
thoughts our way. Together we can pull together and get through
these difficult times. Thank you for reading my message. Much love, Autumn Mesa |
