Sundays at 11:00 am
We come together each week to stop for awhile, to look, and to listen
from our hearts as to who we truly are ~ our goals, our dreams, our
path…. We come together to reawaken our light. Then, we return to our
daily lives anew!
|
 |
 |
We are an interfaith community of Love and Peace, coming together to
merge our energies and thoughts, our prayers, visions, hopes, hearts,
desires, longings….We come together in our strengths, weaknesses, joys,
sorrows – we come to A Place of Peace in integrity, in search for
connection, compassion, communion. Each with our own awareness of the
Divine, we come together, finding that thread of Oneness we all share.
We Celebrate!
Our meditations are sacred times of quiet. They center us, ground us, unify us, and collectively - we commune. |
 |
Our
prayers come in different form. Sometimes spoken, sometimes sung,
thought, visualized, danced and/or written – our prayers reverberate
out into the universe to connect us with one another and with the
Divine Oneness.
|
|
Our time together each week is our prayer!
|
 |
 |
| Music is the universal language of the heart – there will always be music at A Place of Peace |
 |
We
have wonderful musicians on board, Kevin and Brian Kinsella. They are
my sons and have been involved in music since they were children. When
they were very small I would take my guitar to their room at night and
we would sing our prayers at bedtime. It was always a very special
time. |
|
I was into music ministry in those days and was part of a small folk
group that sang on Sundays. Kevin and Brian would come and sit in the
front pew and sing along. As they grew, they both took up an instrument
and in a short time had formed their own band. They are in their 30’s
now, Brian is the on lead guitar and vocals, Kevin is the
percussionist. They perform in Santa Barbara regularly each week – as
well as up and down the coast, from Berkeley to Los Angeles – as well
as a few road trips across country. |
 |
The Kinsella Brothers
have offered their talents to us at A Place of Peace and we are really
excited to have them join us. As with their band, they welcome visitors
to join them form time to time. So please, if you are interested in
making music with them in our sanctuary on Sundays, give us a call. |
|
The
Kinsella Brothers are available for private functions. Please contact
them if they can be of service to you at telephone: (805) 795-9878 or
visit their website at myspace/kinsellabrothers. |

Weddings
are individually created to support the philosophical, spiritual and
social style of each couple. We honor and support all who choose
love, regardless of orientation.
“And think not you can direct the course of love, for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course .” Kahlil Gibran
There
is nor more natural testimony of the love shared between two
people than marriage. As a custom it is older than history and
civilization. The basis for marriage is a couple's clear declaration to
each other and the world of exclusivity. But this is only the basis - a
necessary foundation upon which an equally necessary structure of love,
friendship, and respect must stand.
Marriage
is a step that takes a relationship to the next level, lifts your love
to a higher ground and brings you in union with, and part of the many
great loves who have come before. Amidst the joy and celebration of the
time, we find our way to moments of a solemn lifting of your love to
the heavens for blessings from the divine. In marriage you
stand before God/Spirit/Universal Oneness, acknowledging that you are a
part of something so much larger than yourselves.
The weddings I offer are always beautiful, heartfelt and personal
– each according to the style of the couple and their families. I can
offer a sacred space in our Church sanctuary or I can go to a location
of your choosing. In respect to time, your ceremony can be as long or
short as you desire. I will work with prayers or poetry of
your liking, the music or your choice, assist in the creation of your
vows – or you may give me your own work and I will adjust my part
accordingly.
Along with your wedding preparation, I offer pre-marital counseling
to get you started off on the right foot. One of the benefits I see in
this offering is that down the road, when most couples meet up with
style differences and stumbling blocks in their relationship, they have
already had a positive experience in counseling and therefore are more
apt to seek help before things get out of hand. Plus, it’s always nice
to stop for a moment or two during the preparation period before the
wedding to take inventory and get started on your road to happiness. My
husband, Doug, and I make this an easy and light experience – while at
the same time addressing potential issues for you to look at together.
We have met with couples over the years and find they all share one
very beautiful thing in common – their intention to love one another.
It is our privilege and honor to assist you in this goal. |

Baby Naming/Blessings bring family and friends together to welcome and bless the new child in their lives, to honor their new sacred journey. |
|
Our
children are our precious gifts from the universe. When a new little
soul comes into our lives it is a time of great joy and new beginnings.
Gathering family and friends together, and lifting your new child into
the light of Love/God/Truth/Light… is a means of honor and respect. In
most traditions it is customary to lay hands on the child in prayer, to
offer them our support as a community while they grow, to bless their
journey in spirit, and to extend our commitment to help guide their
path. Offering a new child a spiritual name blesses them with a
strength and spiritual connection they can cherish and draw from for
the rest of their lives. Baptismal waters sprinkled from our font
symbolize the birthing for the new little one, into refreshing new life
in Spirit.
There
are as many ways to welcome and honor children into our world as there
are children and families. Together we can create a ceremony that will
integrate your spiritual beliefs and style to encircle your child in a
focused, relevant and reverent manner. |
 |
Your friends, family and loved ones are given an opportunity to celebrate the new life in their midst.
“Your
children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of
Life’s longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, and
though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You
may give them your love but not your thoughts, for they have their own
thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls, for their
souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even
in your dreams. You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make
them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent
forth. The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He
bends you with his might that His arrows may go swift and far. Let your
bending in the Archer’s hand be for gladness; for even as He loves the
arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable. “

My
husband, Doug Kierbel, joins me in my work with Couples and Families.
Together we journey alongside couples in stress to help them return to
the love that drew them together. Sometimes we sort through the issues
that have blocked the happiness and trust between. Sometimes we teach
communication or parenting skills if perceived that may be in the way
of the peace between them. Often we listen and feedback how we see them
struggle, offering our suggestions toward change. Sexual issues are
addressed in a way that is non-threatening yet clear. Humor helps and
Doug and I love to weave a bit of the lighter side of loving into our
sessions. Together with the couples who come to work with us, we share,
sort, teach and redirect. Please contact us for further information. |

A Course in Miracles, Meditation and Study Groups are inclusive, supportive and educational. Thursdays; 12:30 and 6:30 PM - all are welome anytime!
|

A Course in Miracles is a spiritual psychotherapy, guiding us to remove the blocks to the awareness of Love’s presence in our lives. The concept of Miracle in this course relates to a change in perception within our thinking process
– turning our thoughts from; judgment, attack, rejection, intimidation,
embarrassment, criticism, jealousy, greed…to; acceptance, joy, support,
forgiveness, wisdom, understanding, self assurance, love….
We
are a process group, sharing our stories and our journey into this
place of peace in our lives through and with the Course. Our group is
non judgmental, casual and loving – we support one another from a true
place of light!
We
open our meetings with a 30 minute meditation that grounds us and opens
our hearts and minds for the study, the work we will accomplish that
night.
The
following is the introduction to A Course in Miracles that we read
together at the start of each meeting – each time we read we find new
application.
Introduction
“This
is a course in miracles. It is a required course. Only the time you
take it is voluntary. Free will does not meant that you can establish
the curriculum. It means only that you can elect what you want to take
at a given time. This course does not aim at teaching the meaning of
love, for that is beyond what can be taught. It does aim, however, at
removing the blocks to the awareness of love’s presence, which is your
natural inheritance. The opposite of love is fear, but what is all
encompassing can have not opposite.
This course can therefore be summed up very simply in this way:
Nothing real can be threatened.
Nothing unreal exists.
Herein lies the peace of God. |

House Blessings raise the consciousness of a family toward love and hope as their new sanctuary is honored and infused with positive energy.
|
|
A new home is your Place of Peace. It is your castle and your hub.
Bringing a sacred ceremony into your home is honoring, it speaks of the
intention you hold to live in harmony. Inviting God/Love/Universal
Oneness…into your midst summons; light, peace, integrity, and joy to be
always present within the walls of your family’s sanctuary.
“Your
house is your larger body. It grows in the sun and sleeps in the
stillness of the night, and it is not dreamless….Would that I could
gather your houses into my hand….Have you peace, the quiet urge that
reveals your power? Have you remembrances, the glimmering arches that
span the summits of the mind? Have you beauty, that leads the heart
from things fashioned of wood and stone to the holy mountain?”
- Kahlil Gibran

Memorial/Funeral Services celebrate and integrate life and death.

Together with family and friends we grieve, remember, pray, and
celebrate the life lost to us on this earth. Together we send the
departed on to the Light of Love and Eternity.
“What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the Master calls a butterfly”
- Richard Bach
For
what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the
sun? And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its
restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered.
– Kahlil Gibran
Indian Prose
Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
So do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there. I did not die.
I am merely out of sight.
